mazakman Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 I'm somewhat confused by the readings that the bios displays for the voltage readings, 11.3 to 11.4 volts. When I check with a crappy little multimeter I get around 13.9 volts. I checked my wife's Enermax and got 14.4 volts. I'd imagine that this should be alarming if correct. Should I bring my computer to work and use a calibrated Fluke 744 to read the voltages from the psu?
Eva_Unit_0 Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Yes, they only way to REALLY get accurate readings is to use a quality multimeter. The mobo's readings are never very accurate, and neither are those of a "crappy" multimeter. Bust out the high-quality one and see what you get. mazakman Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 I'll try that sometime this week. How much more or less voltage can the average motherboard safely work with? I know that this is a very general question, but there must be some sort of general rule of thumb to follow.
