I am considering purchasing a athlon xp 3200 barton core 400fsb processor, I am wondering if it is overclockable or if they are locked at the factory. I have read alot of people are buying 2500 xp-m and overcloking them to above 3200 speeds I am trying to figure out what to buy.

Thanks

I dont think my ram could take it. I have geil golden dragon 3200 ddr memory and my asus mb will only allow me to apply 2.8 volts to it. So I might be better off buying a 2500+ xp-m and overclocking it to say close to 2400mhz?

They will be multi locked.. but theres nothing stopping you raising the fsb.. as long as your ram can handle it.

re-read that line.....

the multi will be locked..... (unless the CPU is about a year old, but since you are just now buying it...that is highly unlikely)

but you can raise the FSB.....depending on the mobo you have
