maorWTF Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 (edited) NEW Topic: i asked this question in the FAQ and sygested to add its answer in the FAQ, but the nessage has been deleted... so i'll ask here: what are good temo for: VGA (mem and core). HD, PS, NorthBridge and the Southern Brdige ? and also what are the maximal temo for those components thanks alot. OLD topic: we measure fan's noise at DB, right ? 25sb, 35db, and 55 is very loud but in my stereo, there is -44db, - 40db, and -10db is very loud and in the both cases this is DB, nothing else... is this possible ? airman Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 i believe those negative dB is how many dB that the reciever takes away before it goes to the speakers. sooo...that's say -40dB off of the full signal.

jammin Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 Yep.. thats just it. Any kind of amplification with accurate and meaningful measurement will be labelled like this.. as its the most logical way to do it.

hardnrg Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 yep, it's called amplification attenuation... 0dB is the loudest the amp will do... if it's a 15W amp then it'll be fairly loud, and if it's like 1kW then it'll be going towards a club set-up... the biggest attenuation is -oo (infinity symbol), which would be all the way to the left, and should be silent...
