Cold Cathodes

Are the Cold Cathodes really cold ?

ok uhh feel a light bulb... thats about hot hot a neon is..now put ur hand on the back of ur monitor thats about a cc...rough estimate but is about right

When I turn mine on I can barely tell the difference in temp from when they were off, so yer they barely produce heat at all. Far superior to neons :P

In simple word. no.. lol they are not cold. They dont produce heat. or makes your computer cold.. If you try it you cant tell the temparature between on or not. Like byron said. Depends(i think)

some "cold" cathode tubes get "warm" not hot - i have an ice blue cathode tube that if i take it out of the lexan/plexiglass sleeve its pretty warm - but not enough to really change the temps in your case that much

of course there not cold anything that puts out Power isnt cold

that's not true. what about windmills :P

mine are the ones with the plastic sheld and they are nice and warm....off topic they remind me of the blue lightsabers in starwars :P
