File Size Smaller

Recommended Posts

You can resize in most photo programs, but you have to go by physical dimensions to reduce kb (pixels, inches, cm.) Most will tell you the properties as you reduce, so you can stop when you get to the kb you want. Going down in a .jpeg reduces quality, so don't go any farther than you have to. Save your resized pic with "save as" so you don't risk losing the original. Once you resize, if you try to go bigger again you can't get the info back and the picture quality will be poor.

if you have photoshop, there is a really nice feature in the file menu that says "Save for Web" it still does it in jpeg format but makes the file size even smaller than a normal jpeg. with the same qaulity.

I use ArcSoft Photostudio, and when you go to save as a .jpg file, there's a slider bar. I can set it from 1-100, 100 being best quality, but say, a 400kb file, then I can schlep it down to 1, quality is crap, but the file is 2kb in size, so, Psshht!?
