uirikun2 Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 Hi all I am wondering is it ok to make ATA type IDE round cable by ourselve? because the lines are much more dense compare to normal IDE cable. Also is there a way to check if we did cut any of the line in the process? I mean will the whole thing not work even if only 1 of the line is cutted or does it have to be multiple? Thanks all
Iggy Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 Welcome to OCC uirikun2. Yes, it's ok to slice up a standard IDE cable and make it into a round one. However, you won't be able to tell if it works until you plug it in-it will probably only take one bad wire to screw the whole thing up. gunak87 Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 I've made one before. I accidentally scraped it to where one wire was exposed, but it didn't affect the cable. So, I guess if you screw up, as long at the wires aren't touching, they should be okay.
