I took the CMOS jumper from my board, but no luck.

From the DFI? That's not gonna work too well. If you mean from your old motherboard, then fine.

On the label on the drive, there should be some kind of diagram, indicating Master, Slave and Cable Select?

Well if he means the CMOS Reset jumper... does that have to be on 2 pins all the time? I can't remember what it's like on my Nforce2 board but I am pretty sure on my older boards you just put a jumper over 2 pins for a couple of seconds then take it off again.

Dont think I would use a staple either :) But yes, there should be a diagram somewhere.... what hard disk is it by the way?

hmm. Can you hear the drive spin up/power on? You said the cables are attached alright so I guess that's out of the question... unless maybe the cables broked.

Is the hard disk the only one on the cable? CD drives detected? Positive the jumpers in the right place?
