DECwakeboarder Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 if I had the money. I would bother with building the most super computer possible. I would just simply build the most computerized house ever filled with lots and lots of the best gaming rigs neatly installed and set up in places like the hot tub haha. and oh yes I have a big imagination. lol Same thing I was thinkin Nerm, all over the house and in the cars, heck Id build some kind of computerized electric gokart thing that could do some amazing speeds. hardnrg Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 i'm sure the most computerised house would come complete with arctic a/c cooling throughout if you had anything to do with it Nerm... i'd have a scooby doo mansion with revolving bookcases and secret passages... just cos i could... lol
Nerm Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 yea I would just turn my house into the north pole while i'm at it lol.
Dasterdly Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 QUOTE (Dasterdly @ Jul 23 2004, 11:45 PM)Are all of you guys forgetting about Cray Supercomputers? i don't think i could be bothered with the space it takes up and general maintenance... heh, could you even put an AGP card in it? With a Cray, you can do software rendering and have full details and run at 1,000+ fps easy. Who needs an AGP slot?
hardnrg Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 i'm sure even with teraflops of computing muscle it couldn't run UT2004 (or many other games) without a LOT of faffing about... not exactly lan-party portable either
jammin Posted July 24, 2004 Posted July 24, 2004 exactly.. supercomputers are designed to do much more useful things than playing games.. If you can call nuclear warhead and defense research a useful thing (I know they do good humanitarian things as well).
Krondo Posted July 24, 2004 Posted July 24, 2004 Uhm guys.... you're confusing the . out of me... I'm talking about walking into Circuit City, best buy, fry's, compusa, microcenter.... what should I get at those places? :-)
Squarepi Posted July 24, 2004 Posted July 24, 2004 If you're interested in a good pre-built gaming comp, you should probably go here: http://www.alienware.com/ (I just hope you really meant money isn't an issue)
Nerm Posted July 24, 2004 Posted July 24, 2004 if you want a really good gaming comp build it yourself. don't go to compusa, bestbuy, circuit city, or alienware and get a pre-built.
TheSternMystic Posted July 24, 2004 Posted July 24, 2004 BEST gaming system EVER? Yep, it'd be PCI-Express, with Dual Nvidia 6800's in their SLI whosisawhatsit, with whatever Intel calls their 3.6ghz Socket 775 P4, some pimp Sound card, SCSI 15K Hard-drives in Raid, and of course A Mach II and several Air Conditioning units...Yep... Or you could just get a nice, quaint P4 3.2ghz, 6800Ultra (AGP), 1 gig of RAM, Two 100gb SATA drives connected in Raid 0, your usual DVD-ROM/R/RW combo stuff...Some happy little fans, a pretty little heatsink. Really, you stick a 6800Ultra in almost anything and it will scream.

Hyper Threaded Posted July 24, 2004 Posted July 24, 2004 Who really has nearly $16k to spend on a computer anyway? I would rather use that money to buy a car, if I had that much. I already have a car, though, a fast one too.
