Dasterdly Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 Let this be a warning to all basketball fans here. Shaq + Miami Heat = Unstoppable
exeter_acres Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 Bah...... Detroit can crush them too... Hmm...Weren't the Lakers with Shaq, Kobe, and Karl unstoppable before the playoffs...? Hmmmm My how times change
Phil Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 I think the Lakers dealt him because he's getting old...not that there's anything wrong with that.
pi-dickens_project Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 Shaq left the lakers? when did that happen?
Dasterdly Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 The deal was made Wednesday. Shaq still won quite a few championships with the Lakers. The only thing the Heat were really missing was a tall, physical center. We have that now.
AYoKoNA Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 And I thought Shaq was going to be a Laker for life....What a traitor....<_< All because of the drama between Jackson, Bryant and him. They should have fixed it (Kobe and Shaq) instead of having one of them leave. Its a shame... Atleast Kobe just signed a 130 million dollar deal for 7yrs with LA. Now we just need a good center for the team.
Dasterdly Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 It's a shame they couldn't patch things up, they could have been a Pippen/Jordan-like duo if they would have just communicated more.
r_target Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 Funny, I don't watch much basketball, but I was watching ESPN for Tour de France update and they showed a graph of Laker victories with Kobe and Shaq together and alone. Kind of surprising. This is a paraphrase of the graph:
Bosco Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 I would laugh my a$$ off if Kobe is convicted at his trial, it would make the lakers look like the biggest morons in the NBA
RVE Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 The primary reason for Shaq leaving was because of the owner and GM of the Lakers shafting him and not being up front with him. Miami however, I wouldn't say unstoppable, but they definitely upgraded this off-season. Shaq is somewhat old in NBA terms, but think of it this way. He has a lot less competition in the East. He won't have to battle against San Antonio, Dallas and Sacramento as much during the season, and won't have to go through them in the playoffs. He'll get a lot less mileage on him this year. He won't get fatigued playing difficult teams prior to the finals (except Detroit). He is aging a bit, but won't have as much wear and tear on him either. bigred Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 I dunno how well he'll fit in there. miami is a FAST team. shaq as we've seen is NOT what you'd call fast when it come to running the break.
