Vampire Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 Has anone used these RAM heatspreaders before? They look SO COOL, but for $32 AU, they sure dont come cheap. What I really want though is performance, my Kingmax ram has no heatspreader and is running 2.9 volt, a little scary for value ram such as this. *once again drools over the looks of this heatspreader* Check this out, all the lighting modes the LED's can have! AWSOME!
anthony Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 hmmm in my opinion.. they dont look so cool.. lights make it ugly
hardnrg Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 that's a lot of money for a heatspreader

jammin Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 Looks a bit gimmicky to me.. if you want performance get some regular heatspreaders or some active ones.
GTSticky Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 Heatspreaders don't do anything unless you've determined you NEED more RAM cooling. If you've determined that, make sure you have good airflow running right over the RAM or you are just transferring the heat from the chips to the spreader and achieving nothing. and I concur with the rest of the thread, those are ugly. hardnrg Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 you could get some copper heatspreaders and epoxy of those massive Tt ramsinks on there for less money... or even get some active cooling for less...

kobalt Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 (edited) I think most ram heat spreaders are for looks, i often wonder why people bother getting those. For anything to need heat sinks it has to generates a lot of heat, so my rule of thumb, if you touch it at peak load and you find that you cant keep your finger on it for more than 3 or 4 seconds, you need. Otherwise you buy for looks. and vamp, i too think they look cool, not as cool as the corsair though loll Edited July 12, 2004 by kobalt
