shmitty Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 How long do you suppose that a AMD 64 2800 will last till i have to upgrade. Because I dont know long till it will be totaly outdated and useless like a celeron piece of ..
Agallion Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 (edited) my personal opinion is that its a celeron class but not ts a non nuterd chip but so low powerd i wouldnt bother..get a 3000 or above and youll be golden but by all mean 2800 is a powerful chip its just nothing special Edited July 11, 2004 by Agallion
airman Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 save up some more and try your best to get a 3200+ and even possibly a 3400+...that would kick arse.
BabyBalrog Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 a AMD64 2800+ is like buying a p4c 3.0 ( or 2.8) these days. nice CPUs but new sockets are out, with better chips, HOWEVER AMD will continue to support the socet for years to come so thigns wont be that bad when you try to upgrade, unliek intel
DevilMB3017 Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 The best analogy is its like buying a leftover car model. Its the 2005 model year, so the 2004s are brand new, but cheaper. They'll last just as long, but aren't as good/new.
BabyBalrog Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 good analogy, Theres nothing wrong with the 745 2800+ and it hasa great price performance ratio

shmitty Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 maybe in your state but not Washington
Dignan Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 maybe in your state but not Washington Yes you can, there are limits on hours a week. I did it, completely legal. You file your taxes just like anyone else, you are on payroll like anyone else, etc. You can work 3hrs a day school days, 8 on Fri. and Sat. and 8 when school isn't in session the next day (summer break). You can't work any time from 9PM to 7AM though... (I don't see how kids get paper routes) I worked at a pizza place, work rush 5-8 weekdays and 11AM-7PM on weekends. http://www.dol.gov/esa/programs/whd/state/nonfarm.htm
GregP24 Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 Skip the neon lights and just buy what you need to go fast. Get the show stuff later.
sYstEmATiC Posted July 14, 2004 Posted July 14, 2004 Skip the neon lights and just buy what you need to go fast. Get the show stuff later. yep, thats what i did. honestly dude, if u need a system now, buy some pos celeron 500mhz with 128mb of ram to hold u over so u can surf the net....save your money so u can get a 3200+ or better because the 64 3200+'s have 1mb L2 cache as the 2800, and the 3000 only have 512. (which WILL make a difference.)
