bigred Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 well my first attempt to resolve this problem has proven to be a flop, now it's time to take of the gloves and get tough on the customers. old policy: repairs over $200 must have a 50% deposit on them. customer will get a phone call twice a week upto 3 months. after 3 months (aka 90 days) the system will be disposed of. all parts added to the system will become property of CBW again. systems will be disposed of as I see fit (donated to local schools and churches). the customer signs this at the bottom of the check in sheet, the tech goes over this with them at check in. new policy: no work gets done with out a 50% deposit. all work over $250 must be paid in full before work will begin. customer will get 1 call per week for 3 months. a $10 per week storage fee will be charged unless prior arrangements have been cleared by me (customer going out of town or something along those lines). if the system is not picked up all parts added go back to CBW and the system is disposed of. in all honesty the first policy was not well inforced. I have systems in my shop that have been here since november 2003! and the worst part is the shop looks like crap because we're running out of room to bring in new stuff
anthony Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 I think its a good policy, but i think you should reword it, like merge parts of policy one with it.. to make it not sound as forcefull, heres my suggestion/: NEW POLICY: Work will commence after 50% deposit, all services over $250 must be paid prior to work begining, and must be payed in cash. Customers will get 1 call per week for 3 months (90 days). A 10 dollar storage fee will be aplied per week, unless prior arrangements have been cleared by me; (customer going out of town or something along those lines). if the system is not picked up all parts added go back to CBW and the system is disposed of as I see fit (donated to local schools and churches, etc.) just a suggestion from me

benjaminw Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 and the worst part is the shop looks like crap because we're running out of room to bring in new stuff this one time, I'll do you this favor: round up the stuff sitting around the shop, and ship it to me. I'll take care of it for you, no charge
Agallion Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 maybe all parts should be donated to teh OCC folding team
General912 Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 I wouldent have them pay in full. Its how should I say it unprofessional... I mean when you goto a lawyers do you pay in full when you walk in the door no... I dunno the depoist and the storge fee are a good idea though... My dad always charged a storage fee when he owned his business.. Hell he had a log splitter there for 5 years and the guy tryed to take him to court to get it back, but it was clearly stated that after 30 days a storarge fee is charged after 90 days the item is his... funny thing is that my dad sold it to a guy who gave it right back to the guy who originaly owned it... Kamikaze_Badger Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 Good policy. Make sure that you put that in finely bold print. That way, you can say it was in bold print when they start calling their lawyers .
Nerm Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 I like the policy. I have been thinking of making a policy like that for my business.

bigred Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 little more than just work at CBW... own a franchise and general it's a little different than a lawyer. how do you think a lawyer would take having 50 dead bodies stacked up in his office for 3 months? 50 dead bodies that would make taking on 50 new clients a problem. a lawyer would be tossing them out and biling someone for the effort. btw you would NOT want these things for F@H... most of them are under 1ghz (ther are a few 2-3ghz machines in here) and are what is referred to as FUBAR
Newport Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 btw you would NOT want these things for F@H... so..... If i still had my P2 444Mhz, i would have it folding.... If you have as many as you say you do, then 1 WU a week on each of those systems would add up to as many as some moderate folders on our team put out. Give it a try... If OCC Team dont see a noticable change in points/24 hours within... oh.... 2 to 3 weeks, you can trash em.
urvaius Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 The last time I used a lawyer I had to pay them in advance $5000 bucks. Its called a retainer. When the money runs out they bill you for some more. Or ask for more before working on anything else. Big Red it's the same in the motorcycle business. We have bike that have been here for 5 years or more. trying to clear them out is a pain. Since they have titles on them you have to get them released to you so you can sell them since the customers never paid for the work done on them. We have actually had peaple come back after 3 years wanting their bike back and wondering why it doesn' t run. Then they get pissed. It is absolutely un believable. I feel for ya bigred. I make peaple prepay for all special ordered parts and they still don't pick them up haha. I put them back in stock after like 6 months and take their money. Some peaple are just dumb. and yes it happens alot
