CompXT Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 I have a P4 2.53Ghz Northwood. Model 2, Stepping 7, Revision C1. 533FSB I have a crap Mobo (Dell) and I would like to swap it out for something that will have some nice OC ability and all the extras. My current chipset is a i845PE with a ICH4 Southbridge. Can anyone recomend a good Mobo (or at least the chipset that will work good with 533FSB). I'm willing to spend around 150 bucks for the Mobo. r_target Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 Abit IC-7G, DFI Lanparty 875. Those two (and their variants) are probably the most popular Intel boards around here.
CompXT Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 I heard the 875's act a little weird with 533FSB CPU's. Do they?????
r_target Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 I heard the 875's act a little weird with 533FSB CPU's. Do they????? I've never really heard of any weird issues, but that doesn't necessarily mean there aren't any. Checking the support forums of the manufacturers before you buy is a good way to learn about any possible hardware conflicts/issues. dfi Abit
snipermav Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 I heard the 875's act a little weird with 533FSB CPU's. Do they????? Nope, that's exactly what I have running, and everything runs just fine.
General Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 Wouldnt 875 be overkill for this proccesor? it only has an FSB of 133 IF u get an 865P im guessing that should be fine, but on that note, if you wanna upgrade ur proccesor later on i would suggest buying an 875P chip.
