red930 Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 (edited) http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-144-516&depa=1 I hear Geil is really good and that its better to have 2 sticks of 256 than one stick of 512. So can this ram handle high fsb? Im not much of a ram guru. I know its PC4000 so it can handle more than my current and its alot better than crucial but is this the right choice for the money? Nerm Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 I personally prefer cosair or kingston for high performance, and samsung for budget, but Geil works good for budget too. And yes it will be better than crucial ram.

I dont hear that great about corsair, mostly good about geil and OCZ
InvaderTrax Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 Is it for a P4 or Athlon? Most Athlon's will never need that powerful of RAM. PC3700 is usually the highest they'll need
DarkScorpion Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 Invader is right, if you plan on using it for your XP-M, dont waste your money, get something like PC-3500 or 3700. Not only wil athlons not make it to that high high of a FSB to need PC4000 ram, but ram with that much bandwidth will have very loose timings and you'll pay for it in the end. ShadowPaktu Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 just get some good quality PC3500 ram, that runs at low latencies, like i dont know 2-2-2-5?

Waco Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 Look in my sig for my suggestion. Also, running 2-3-3-11 is faster on nforce 2 boards than 2-3-3-5 (my previous timings).

Nerm Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 I suggest the Cosair XMS low latency. I have had very good success with it.
