I would suggest the MSI Delta board with Cosair or Kingston PC3200 Ram and a Radeon 9800 pro as mentioned above or an Nvidia 6800 Ultra for serious gaming. and if you don't have a budget then I would suggest a P4 3.4 EE or an Athlon64 FX system instead of the XP 3200.

Here is a gaming righ I built for a friend....and it works better than any other computer I've built..and I'll tell you why.

Athlon 64 3000+ (overclocked to 3400+)

Asus K8V Delux Motherboard

1gb DDR400 PC3200 Memory

120gb Hitachi Serial ATA (SATA) Hard Drive

ATI Radeon 9800 XT

I can run any game on the market and this system does not even flinch. The athlon 64 processors have a feature available called Cool N Quiet which is quite nice because the processor itself only runs at 1000MHz when the computer is under calm operation, but if you do anything that requires processing power it instantly bumps up the speed of the cpu to bust open the task at hand, and once its completed it backs off the timing once again. This keeps the temparature of the cpu lower, and preserves the life of the processor for longevity. When I throw Far Cry at it, it floats like butter under stressful situations, and backs off when it isn't needed. I can bump the core clock of this cpu up to 3400 with no problem because it doesn't get hot, preventing leakage, and I upped the voltage on the memory and the cpu with no problem. I did have problems finding the right memory for it...and I have built several Athlon 64 systems..and let me tell you...every single one is different. Do not rely on forums to decide on which memory to buy. Honestly I would go with the Cheapest priced DDR400 you can find from a company that will RMA with no hassel. If it doesn't work..send it back and try another stick. Make sure you don't shove 2 sticks of memory in the board for the very first bootup. Start with one and see if you get it to fire. If not...try the other. Make sure they are left on "auto" settings. Athlon 64 processors are memory specific and thus do not like anything much other than auto. You can mess with the timings all you want, but these chips won't benefit much from it. Its up to you....All I want is stability.....these setups run extremely fast...and will absolutely be worth every dollar in the long haul. Sure there are no 64 bit programs out there for the every day user.....but they will come.....since Intel's EE 64 came out...we have competition in the 64 bit market..and now software company's will respond. Make a decent investment.....this chip will last you a very....very long time.....and is fast enough for anything you will ever do........even to run a decent little server. If you are an Intel fan...and must buy Intel....spend the few extra bucks..and get the "right now" performance..but I'll tell ya...the windows 64 flys with my setup. Only catch is....you MUST have a gig of ram to get windows 64 to install. Sorry for the lengthy reply...building a system from ground up is not cheap..and alot is to consider. Any questions...feel free to PM or reply.

Thats because of the 9800XT that games are running so good, not the "precious" A64....Most games don't even utilize today's amazing processors. You can use an Athlon "XP", or Northwood and get the EXACT same results in a game. It mostly depends on the video card.
