Mad Cow Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 I recently wasted an AN7 mobo that managed to get some silicone sealant into the actual socket. (Needed for my peltier cooling) So now I am left with a decision between sticking with a 32 bit platform or moving to 64 bit. If I went 64 bit I would use a dual partitioned hard drive with a 64 bit linux running on one. I would also need a free, easy to learn version I should use. Also what mobo/cpu combination should I use? I currently have 512MB (2x 256MB) Mushkin DDR 500, would I still be able to use that? I would also have to change my waterblock top if I switched again. Or should I just get another 32bit mobo, if yes what do you recommend? My main purpose for this machine will be gaming. I have also thought about not using the pelt if I went 64 bit because I have heard of poor overclocking with these chips. (correct me if I'm wrong) Remember to keep the budget BELOW $350 (200 + sold parts). ANY comments welcome!!!
