hardnrg Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 start -> run... compmgmt.msc go to Disk Management (i think it's management anyway) and select the disk and format away...
road-runner Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 There is a program called killdisk that I used before, they have or had a free edition that will write all 0s to the disk or I guess you could use a win98 boot disk and use the fdisk and format the drive also. hardnrg Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 yeah, are you gonna be formatting the hard-drive on a computer with xp already installed (on another harddrive)? if not, then it's bootdisk for you, you'd have to get a special one to be able to partition and format in ntfs... cybergrunt69 Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 You can also try 'Paragon Partition Manager' from download.com. Yes, it's try-b4-you-buy, but this seems like it would be a good test. Handles NTFS as well as several others. Partition Magic is also a great tool that you could use (about $60), and IIRC, it has a bootable CD so Windows doesn't have to touch it.
