InvaderTrax Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 Alright, I was cleaning out my old Dell psu (I might be getting a hold of an old 700MHz PIII Dell for folding) and I decided to pull the fan out and see how it was. I plugged it in and it was easily pushing 40 cfm. So, I take the Panaflo off my heat sink and put them side by side. It was really close, so I just mounted the Dell fan to get a better look. Now I'm in shock. 4C drop at full F@H load. I've gone through 3 fans trying to get a good one (stock Silent Boost, lighted fan that was mislabeled on newegg (said 42, box was 32 cfm), and finally the Panaflo)

HomerJaySimpson Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 Cool! This has made my mind up about replacing my Vantec Stealth case fans with Panaflo.
FanATIc205 Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 im getting great results with my tt silent boost for the 64bit athlon. havent really done any testing but its quiet complments my 5 silenx case fans well. had no problem pumping 2400mhz thru my 3200+ but im sure a delta or tornado would further decrease my temps
hardnrg Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 funnily enough, the Stupid Boost fan IS a Panaflo (FBL08A12M)!!!!! Tt rate it 21dB, Panaflo rate it 28dB which is much more like what i heard out of it... nonetheless... i have a 120mm panaflo on the side panel and even tho it isn't silent, i don't care cos it shifts air like a demon, and the noise is a low rush of air sound... so who cares right? Dasterdly Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 My Tt was great when i didn't OC. My sp-97 w/ vantec tornado is absolutley better.

The old Silent Boosts are Panaflo's, but the new ones are Everflow. Anyway, I think some of you misunderstood. The Dell fan I pulled out of the psu is BETTER than the Panaflo
TheSternMystic Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 I like Dell. Dell is cool. I mean, you guys give them a rough time, but you don't care to have a close look. They're even selling comps with Intel 3.6ghz, PCI express and DDR2.
lilkev715 Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 The Dell fan I pulled out of the psu is BETTER than the Panaflo It could be (depending on the actual manufacturer of the fan), but from my experiences with dell PSU's they are horrible. I replaced a fan on a PSU from dell because the fan would lockup/spin slowly, basically signs of fan failure. When I replaced the fan inside the PSU, it was a sleeve bearing fan. I mean come on! How cheap can you be Dell? A PSU is one of the most important components of a pc to keep cool. It would only make sense to use a fan inside the PSU that can last a long time (e.g. ball-bearing fans). I don't mean to rant on but generally speaking, companies like Dell cut corners too often.
