BloodySunday Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 Alienware does that all the time. Like with the 6800's when every site just got them and started bencmarking them Alienware said that you can order them in your system but they will delay shipping it 3-4 weeks. HomerJaySimpson Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 Anyone who's smart will wait for the BTX standard to come first and until everythings compatible
FanATIc205 Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 btx isnt goign to come as soon as yall think, and pci-e isnt really goign to do nothing for gaming perofrmance for at least another year. the reviews i tought were very unimpressive. this is your basic intel lauch showing what can be done and it will take a year or so to actually utilize that. btx will probally be first used by intel as they need it for the hott cpu's there making. now the 2 video card thing is impressive but geez is it really needed and the cost of 2 pci-e cards will run a grand, hell i can build a good gaming rig for the cost of both cards and what ever hardware, software needed to use 2 pci-e cards ive found if you play the waiting game with pc parts you just get let down in the end
HomerJaySimpson Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 2 vid cards? what the heck? I remember using 2 vid cards before, 2 voodoo 2's, they were both pci and they kicked a$$ back in the day

hardnrg Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 2 vid cards? what the heck? I remember using 2 vid cards before, 2 voodoo 2's, they were both pci and they kicked a$$ back in the day yeah but this alienware one (i think it's the same one) has the 2 cards going to the same display... so one does half, the other does the other half, and there's some sort of controller thing to do the split/combine... FanATIc205 Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 aleinware isnt doing sli one card does top half of the screen the other does the bottom half, and they are seeing a 77% increase in perofrmance over using 1 card . now if this holds water im boycotting intel for sure http://www.overclockers.com/articles1049/ locked fsb? only a 10% oc ? thats nuts, but i highly doubt the mobo makers will go along with this as alot of there revenue comes for overlcokers
