Ht Question

hey, does windows xp home edition 2002 support hyper-threading, cuz SiSoftware Sandra told me only winxp 2003 or later does, not 2002, is this true?

You need service pack 1 (sp1) for HT. Every copy of XP sold now is sp1, so I wouldn't worry.

 

If you're starting without SP1, just disable HT from the BIOS, you can enable it once SP1 is installed.

SP1 fixed that and the memory cap. it also allowed for xp pro to support 2 HT xeons at once (2 physical processors and 4 virtual processors).

 

and yes it does show up in the general tab as 1 cpu, device manager as 2 and task manager as 2 processors.
