Does anyone have a routine for deleting temp. internet files? If so, do you do it at the browser? How often? Does anyone set their browser not to save temp files and if so, do you notice any loss of convenience? I tried going through the Start menu, Start>Search>All Files and Folders>*.tmp> Search, but nothing came up from the browsers, just a few temp program files. I'd like to get a better sense of this.

It would help to know what operating system and browser you are using.

In IE, you can delete the temporary files file by going to Tools/Internet Options.

In Windows 2000, you can navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxk\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files where xxxxx is your user name. And I believe XP is similar (can't remember right now).

Other packages such as Norton Systems Works can automate this task for you. It's pretty much personal preference, the amount of free space on your hard drive, etc. I clean mine two-three times a week depending on how much I've been on the net.

WinXP, IE Explorer 6.0 (yeah I know but I'm not the only user), Opera 7.5

You can also go to start>all programs>system tools>disk cleanup.

OK, did that. I guess part of what's confusing me is that temp internet files and temp files are not the same thing. I don't worry about the i'net files but the others I hesitate to mess with.
