r_target Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 It could still rust.I'm not a metallurgist but I can tell you, sooner or later it will rust.Try some spray-on clear coat stuff from the hardware store on your test piece.
airman Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 just clear-coat it after i'm done? [edit] actually, i think it'd be quite cool to have a rusty case! interesting mod!
kobalt Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 (edited) You dont have to clear coat it afterwards i just applied mother's car polish on it and it's still nickle shiny it's not like the inside of your case is a very humid environnement, and still mother's (or any car wax) will protect it enough so even water will beed and give a baby bottom smoothness to it Edited June 11, 2004 by kobalt
Pent uP Rage Posted June 12, 2004 Posted June 12, 2004 (edited) He's right about the wax! Just make sure you use a good quality wax..(No turtle wax) Liquid waxes are good too. Waiting to hear back from my bossabout the finish question though. There is a way to clearcoat polished metals without sanding to scratch the finish. Pent uP Rage Posted June 13, 2004 Posted June 13, 2004 (edited) Spike Sucks, but working at the show, I've come across MANY automtoive products that would be PERFECT for modding PC's. Be it polishing and painting, metal work or wiring. Cars are all 12V and a great paint job looks good on ANYTHING. I never put 2 and 2 together til I came to the show. Point was, to watch and learn a little. and yeah wax is good. Edited June 13, 2004 by Pent uP Rage
