Quick Question About Molex Wiring...

Recommended Posts

Hey there folks,

Long time reader, first time poster..

Ok introductions aside.

I'm in the process of sleeving and doing a connector conversion on my new superflower 550. The sleeving and everything is going great, but I had a quick question about how to rewire the molex pins. I have the red and yellow wires in the correct position, but I forgot which black goes on which side of the inside. I know they are both grounds, so my question is this: Does it matter how the grounds are wired, as long as they are in the ground positions?

For instance, say one ground is at position 2 for the initial connector, and then on the next one it happens to be wired to position 3 (assuming that 1 and 4 are the hot wires).

If this is a problem, I could get my hands on a multimeter I suppose... would a resistance read be effective in syncing them all up?

Cheers for any insight..

/M

i can't think of any electronic or electrical device where ground isn't just ground and they all connect to the ground plug... but don't take that as advice... take it as a bump, check google for pinout on molex...

Hey there folks,

Long time reader, first time poster..

First off, Welcome...

Ground is ground, no difference. I prefer to put them back the way they were, but it shouldn't matter.

Do you listen to Mr. Obvious ?

Next time you open a PS, take the time to lift the pcb and lhave a look under it will answer a lot of questions like most all same colors wire are soldered in the same solder blob, which answers the other question "what if i plug too many devices on the same molex with "y" adaptors)> they will be supplied the same wattage weather they are seperate from eachother or not, it will only depends on the max your PS is able to supply ;)
