Joost27 Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 not sure if this is overclocking or cooling..but i guess ill stick it here and see if it gets moved..ok back on topic the summer time is coming as everyone knows...ok im on air cooling right now my temps during the winter were 29*C Idle and 39*C Load after a lot of gaming....no they are 35*C Idle 51*C load after gaming or folding for a while...should i underclock from 2.98Ghz to like 2.7Ghz?? note: watercooling isnt an option for me...seeing how i have no job(at the moment) i rely on my parents for money and well they dont like the idea of a liquid being put inside a computer..no matter how much i tell them that its rare for water cooling to fail but anyways should i underclock and if so by how much?? asus Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 your fine.. thoes tems are good., you may want to cool a bit better with another cooler, but the teomps are within specs
Hyper Threaded Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 (edited) That's not too bad really. Even in the summer, with my Xaser case the cpu temp can be like 43c load. You can take that Intel to 60c before you really need to worry about hurting anything, but under 55c is smooth sailing. IUMaestro Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 i'm having the same problems man.. at college in Indiana i had 34 load at 2.4Ghz, now my load is like lower 50s home in Texas.. but it's ok.. pull back if stability becomes an issue, you're ok otherwise
Joost27 Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 right now heres a pic of the inside(note the psu fan as a vga cooler lol) but i have 6 fans total 2 80mm case fans(front intake back exhaust), one psu fan(as the vga cooler), one exhaust psu fan, and one on the northbridge. so i dont think i can really add anything else to my computer to make it cooler
IUMaestro Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 (edited) well, if you really wanted to you could buy higher-end fans and heatinks. not tryin to get you to spend money if you don't want to but if you want to really get into OCing that more, a better heatsink, and definitely a better CPU fan such as a tornado or something will improve your cooling edit: lol i just noticed a heatsink on the top of your video card... it might make sense at first but really and truly, you are insulating heat if anything. i'd take it off. without proper contact, and without a pad or compound of some sort that does more harm that good. take it off! Jakalwarrior Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 (edited) Heh, I just got a lil metal bladed walmart fan about the size of a dinner plate, took the side of the case off and had it blow in there on high. Worked pretty good till I got a window unit just for my room to get the temps around 70-75. BTW, Homedepot has small window units for 80 bucks. Bit cheaper than watercooling , not to mention its so nice to sleep in a cold room. Edited June 8, 2004 by Jakalwarrior
Joost27 Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 ok well i talked to my parents about the house temp(around 90-95*F on a nice warm day...and they agreed with me that its too hot just to live in...so we went out and bought a 14200 BTu (or w/e the measurement is for a/c) Air conditioner now the whole house stays about 65-70*F and my cpu temp has dropped back down to 40*C load im very happy..infact im gonna get a new hsf and try for 3 ghz...only need 20 more mhz
hardnrg Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 ...I got a window unit just for my room to get the temps around 70-75. haha, i thought for a second there you were talking about cpu temps in centrigrade! i'm glad you don't all use fahrenheit for puter temps... that would suck... heh, i'm quite happy with celsius... no need for two temperature systems here i like how your solution to the underclocking / rising-temps problem was to cool the whole house down... the best solution to summer heat, get rid of it!!!
