Win 98 And 512 Ram?

Past 384MB, you won't notice much difference. My laptop has 320MB of RAM and 98 operates the same as it would if 256MB was installed.

Windows 98 was fine up to 512MB, but more than that it goes a bit nuts

Yep he's right. I had 768 in my box with win98 once and took me a bit to figure out why nothing work work and I would get "out of memory" errors.

Bigred didn't say the limit, he said how much memory 98 uses. 256mb is the amount of memory that windows 98 utilises. Anything else, 98 doesn't use, but it doesn'y mean that no other programs dont use. 98 may only be able to use 256, but anything over that, other apps can use. And i think either on 98 or the SE, that it was uomething like 756 mb of memory, and windows wont recognise it, there a patch to fix that.

OK, let me get this straight on the different types of "memory" that can be on a RAM stick w/ Win 95-ME (not including the basic DOS stuff)

Windows memory

vcache

ramdisk

I think the total can be 2 Gigs or so, and I know vcache can only be up to 512 MB, so does that mean a max ramdisk of like 1.5 gigs or so, or is the ramdisk capped at 512 also?
