spectrascope Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 hey found a processor company that is producing a processor that is 1.0-1.2ghz and requires only a very small heatsink what would remind most of us of a stock northbridge heatsink please tell me what you think of this chip and the company the links are below and as always http://www.crusoe.com/efficeon/specs.html http://www.crusoe.com/pdfs/brochures/effic...0_processor.pdf http://www.crusoe.com/pdfs/brochures/effic...lopment_kit.pdf
DevilMB3017 Posted June 4, 2004 Posted June 4, 2004 They're kind of like the Via EPIA ITX stuff. You should go check those out if your interested in learning about low-power and low-thermal CPUs.
bigred Posted June 4, 2004 Posted June 4, 2004 at least the via chips are true x86. the transmetta chips need a translator to run x86 micro code, therefore SLOWER than an old x86 chip that puts out that much heat.

Ah! Flashbacks to the Itanium! Anyway, I would certainly check out Via's offerings if you want low power and heat processors...and those nano-atx boards are pretty sweet.
