Holy Moly!

Recommended Posts

I had a friend who wants me to build him a computer. So I said "What are you looking for?" His reply, "One like yours. How much would something like that cost?" Well, like so many of us here, mine has been in the making for some time now. Buy a piece here, trade a piece there, upgrade another. So, I went to newegg and keyed in all my components into a wish list and was amazed at the dollars.

Had to made a couple of substitutions:

HP DVD writer 400i, I actually have the 420i

AXP 2800+, I actually have a week 14 2500+. I figured that to be a fair trade.

Anyway--case, board, video card, etc.

Grand Total to build my computer from newegg:

$1480.92

I had no idea I had that much wrapped up in this thing!! How much would it cost to build your system today? I used newegg as a reference point, maybe some of you good folks might do the same. I know it shocked me to see it in black and white.

P.S. Don't let your wife(or parents) see the grand total. Nothing good can come from it!!

I gave up keeping track when I saw 3,000.00 on my first machine and was not close to finished with it, then built 13 more systems, I lot of money invested.

1 cpu $1,075.00, flat monitors, DVD burners, software, and money I have spent on store bought machines since I have been messing with computers, my first was the fastest out then a 233mhz compaq! of course I have a 286 and 486 if you really want to go on back, wish I had all that money in the bank!!

At newegg its up to about $1200. Good thing I didn't have to spend all that at once. Bit by bit helps alot!
