kendellrt Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 I can run any benchmark program that there is, but Prime95. It won't even run with no overclock and all setting at stock! I can play any game I want, run 3dMark2001se, 3dMark03, Aquamark 3, and Sandra just fine. No matter what I do I still get errors with Prime95. Should I put too much stock into that? exeter_acres Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 some people say that is fine...but I like to know that my system is rock solid... No prime? no stability... specs of your system? CPU, mobo, ram, etc, etc, etc.. would help us to help you///
Whitelightning Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 My 3200+ cannot pass prime either....I can run anything else and it passes. I can play games and fold at the same time...no problem.....but when I run prime I get an error after the 3rd test even at stock....so i am oc'd to 2.6ghz now....the system runs great....no problems... fantom Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 (edited) I had the same situation. It seems the stock or Auto settings in most mobos aren't up to snuff. After I oc'd things got better because I had to force place the settings that really work. One thing for sure..if it passes 24 hours of prime..it will pass anything...prime 95 tests the memory beyond belief...so that is the first place to start. memtest is a decent test of memory and runs from dos. Microsoft has one as well...check out utilitygeek.com too. If it fails prime95 something needs help..I had to replace my memory and now it kicks butt, overclocks like no tomorrow, and runs stock better than ever. you may not even know what your missing. kendellrt Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 I have run MemTest and it runs fine. I don't know what the problem is, I can't get Prime95 to run no matter how I set up my system; FSB, memory timings, it doesn't matter. Here are my specs: Asus A7N8X- Deluxe Rev 2.0 BIOS 1007 AMD Athlon XP 2500+ @ 2.4GHz (218*11 @ 1.85v) 512 MB Mushkin Blueline PC3200 DDR SDRAM @ 2.8v EVGA.com GeForce FX 5700 Ultra @ 500MHz GPU, 950MHz DDR2
Whitelightning Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 I have adjusted everything possible.....but it still will not run prime on my main rig. My ram....Ocz Pc-3200.....this ram was made for overclocking.....I have checked everything.......I dunno.....just one of those things. rein Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 have u tried isolating the problem using prime95? torture test it with small fft's first! This only uses the processor. If it passes that but fails a blended test youll know that its your system and not your cpu. That means it could be your ram or chipset
kendellrt Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 I am sure that it is my RAM. It is brand new though, and I have no other problems.
AYoKoNA Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 Try running F@H and join our team.. Its a good program to test for stability as well.. http://www.overclockersclub.com/folding.php
ccokeman Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 Just for kicks try setting the divider on your memory to 5/4 and try running prime. My hyperx wouldnt run 218 at 2.8v i've had to go to 3.2v to get it stable over 217. I'm running prime at 223 fsb 1/1 right now . Whats you vcore set at? kendellrt Posted May 2, 2004 Posted May 2, 2004 I'm sorry but I'm not farmiliar with the term "divider" for RAM. My voltage is at 2.8v, and my mobo doesn't go higher than that. My vcore is 1.85v.
rein Posted May 2, 2004 Posted May 2, 2004 in your bios there will be a setting called memory frequency. To get the divider cokeman recommended change this to 83%. If it passes prime95 then your ram is the bad link. You could try to relax your timings also to increase stability.
