D-r0cK Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 Sorry to be soo abrupt, but do any of you guys work or have jobs? I hear so many people say there low on budget...and stuff, is it because yu live on your own? i understand that..because i live on my own(small bungallow 3 room)..but im doing pretty well on my own. Everyone here is smart, and knowledgeable bout computers. You can all get jobs as Tech support getting paid $14 hour doing 40 hour week (me, and im 20, not bad for that age), or even working in comp retail, or wholesale (you gotta start somewhere). Well again sorry for being so abrupt, and dont bash on me cuz i posted this....like your all thinking of doing after reading this. Syromieshi Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 i wish i was old enough or close enough to a place to do tech support. i would rake in the moola. i work at a sonic for 5.15 an hour for about 60 hours every two weeks. it gets me through the weeks but i havent been able to buy any new parts for my comp. i get basically i get paid 250 and 100 goes to car payment 80 to insurance and 60 to gas that leaves about about enough money to get a small amount of comp parts. well sorry for complaining i had to somewhere lol
ccokeman Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 There are alot of students (No Offense ) here and that makes it a bit difficult to come by a bit o" the green. As for me Married with Child says it all. I have a great paying job but at the end of the month things need to get paid so wants end up getting replaced by the needs. I still find some green to spend every so often so it could be worse. Just have to manage the wants and needs.

asus Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 I have a job at a sore. I cant spell the name but its somthing like this "chanatries" and i think im going to get fired. I went to get my sceduial on friday. And it was last weeks one. So i knew i had to work saturday from last weeks scheduial. So i went to work. I left at 1pm and still no sceduial. So i asked arround, and most all said "steve is prob using the same one because he has not had the time to make a new one" so i decided that was fair, and i went to my gramdmothers house, installed windows xp, and then watched a movie. Then it is sunday, and we go to the imax move theater. bla bla bla, that day goes by, and then on monday, i got to the all american fitness center, and workout until 8.. and then my mom goes to chanatries, and she finds out i was suppose to work, sunday and monday, and i never showed up or called. But i say it's not my fault, and if the schedual is suppose to be out of friday, and its not, to bad for them, but my mom says i should be more responsabel and call them to make shure there is no mistake. SO... i think i may get fired, or i may just quit. I am paied 5.15 and hour, and thats BS.. no rais or nothin.. so i think i am just going to buy a digital camera and then quit "if i dont loose my job" hope this makes some people laugh, and hit there heads on the sharp edge of there desk
Mangar Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 I work I'm a Systems Analyst for a big company, pay is pretty good too. No major budget problems for me. But I agree with the others, there are a number of students here, and I think it's great. When I was in my teens & early twenties there wern't any PC's out yet... not many courses in college either(for I.T.) I started as a mainframe operator back in the late 70's. Between IBM classes & the desire to learn, I started programming mainframes before I was old enough to drink. Today younger people are very lucky, having many resources to learn about computing, many classes, forum's like this, etc. After being in this industry for over 26 years now, I enjoy seeing younger people with the intrest in computers. B) I'm not "bashing", just explaining.
360RamGuy01 Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 I'm a college student and am in the process of getting a job now, I got an interview thursday at Best Buy for a computer technician job, but if that doesn't work out Circuit City hired me as a warehouse worker yeterday. Can you say "Employee Discount"?

Mangar Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 Emp.........Emplo...........Awwwww the job where you get it cheaper than other people. Ya know, as a programmer I always use to say... "programmers don't need to know how to spell, as long as they spell it the same way every time"

kurosen Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 I'm the network dude for a large clothing manufacturer named Federal Jeans. If you're wearing a denim article from KMart, JCPenney, May Company, Skechers, Hot Topic, or Macys (to name a few), odds are it came from my companies warehouses... I don't get ALOT of money for what I do, but I do have my own budget for stuff I order to keep the computers maintained (ofcourse I get myself a spare of whatever I order IF I NEED IT AND IT'S NOT TOO EXPENSIVE). As for cash, I got a car, half a mortgage, martial arts, and a few other monthly expenses... The up side is I have enough time after work to do things I want to do... Let's just say certain "after hours working" grant me a few... benefits... some with sirens
