fantom Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 (edited) prime 95 has been running for over 12 hours at stock speed...now the fun part...took the fsb to 225 which equals 3.9 GHZ. Mobo boots up but windows crashes at the black load screen.... mem is locked at 400 i.e. 1:1. What gives with Xp??? latency is set at 3-4-4-8. Wondering if I need to re install XP since it was installed with bad memory in the first place..and only install XP approved drivers and devices. exeter_acres Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Ummm...did you do a 500mhz overclock in one step???
Nuclear Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 You are probaly gonna need a vcore bump for that chip to run that high. The 3.4c chips are 50/50 right now that you'll get a good OC'er.
Cyberbeer Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Nuclear is correct, just bump up with Vcore in small incriments, until you get into XP. Then I would recommend you run Prime 95 to ensure its stable. I dont have a link for it someone else might, if not Google it. fantom Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Ok I will try it...had left the vcore set "auto" in the bios and it bumped it to 1.6 volts. At any oc prime is unstable as well so a bump in the vcore makes sense. I let it run all day and night with prime and folding and so far it's good. I agree that the 3.4 chips are 50/50. The whole system is very sensitive to changes.
