gunak87 Posted April 25, 2004 Posted April 25, 2004 This weekend, my friends and I had a LAN party. One of my friends just put his system together and I gave him my CoolerMaster Jet heatsink. Last weekend we had put on his stock heatsink with some AS5. When we removed the stock heatsink this weekend the processor was stuck to the heatsink. I've had this problem before and I've always been able to just twist it a little and it would come off. What happened though, was the AS5 had basically dried up. It was crusty, but it was extemely thick, and not gooey like it should be. I know I had put it on correctly because I've done it about a million times. There wasn't a heatpad on the stock heatsink (for P4 3ghz 800mhz FSB). Has anyone experienced this with the stock cooler and AS5? bloodking Posted April 25, 2004 Posted April 25, 2004 both intel systems? it can happen that AS5 is going to act like some sort of glue because of the large surface it's spread on... i never had AS5 go bad on me but there are people that had problems with AS5 after several months...
