Overclocking Help Needed.

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, this is my first time im on this forum and i have a question for you. First of all i'll list my computer mods

AMD Athlon XP 1900+ (1.6ghz)

512 Kingston Ram

A7V333 Asus MB

Radeon 9500Pro 128Mb

Running WIN XP Proffesional

I want to overclock my cpu just a bit, but before i do that i will need to get a volcano heatsink. Which one do you guys recommend? Volcano 7,9 or?

And about overclocking how do i go about it? What do i use? I would be glad if one of you guys explained it so i could do it myself.

Any imputs info and tips on how to or what sholuld i do would be very much so appriciated.

Thanks a lot =)

go with the volcano 12 and about overclocking enter bios on boot up and up your fsb in small increments of about 2-3 mhz but my suggestion is do not over clock until your tottally aware of what each option in your bios does overclocking is relatively easy but it can also costs alot of money if you screw up so just read a load of how to's (there's one on this site) read a load of forum posts about it (several hundred on this site) and then your good to go

Well, before he does anything, he should know his board. Which has incredible limitations. That's a KT333 board, so it won't take kindly to a fsb over 133. Don't even get me started. My suggestion is get either a Volcano 12 or Silent Boost cooler, and, depending on your budget, get either a DFI LANparty NFII Ultra B (expensive board) or NFII Ultra Infinity (almost exactly the same but without the cool colours, SATA, and useless crap)
