CompXT Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 I am getting an AMD Mobile 2600+ and DFI Lanparty NFII Ultra B. Whats a good heatsing and fan combo for this set up. I plan on OC'ing it to 2.4 to 2.5 and maybe 2.6 if possible.
Sly_C Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 oh man, do u look at other threads before u post? but anyway, the slk-900a or sp-97 with either a vantec stealth (silent, less cooling) or the vantec tornado (very loud, lots of cooling) are great heatsinks and fans. CompXT Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 Sorry about the mutiple post. My connection is screwed up at work and pages hardly load. So there is basically no difference between a moble and regular xp cpu when it comes to HS right?

ccokeman Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 If you get the lanparty or infinity stay away from a bolt on heatsink there is just way to much stuff close to the holes in the mobo . I have a slk900a and its great 37c load temps with the tornado at 3500rpm with the system in my sig.

The origonal backplate that comes with it will not fit. Not sure why, but it won't fit. You can get a "Neo Backplate" from Thermalright but they charge you for shipping (I believe) making the total cost around 5 bucks (not sure you would have to contact them). If you go with a bolt on Thermalright, then contact Jim Wei (nice guy) who works there and he should help you out with the backplate issue. Compatibility List Ironically, the NF7 (Rev. 2) has the same problem. You can always cut/mod the backplate that comes with it to fit if you want. A Neo Backplate can be found here for 7.99. Otherwise, the V12 is a great cooler, but not as good as the Thermalrights by far. Good luck regardless.
ccokeman Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 The backplate can be cut and you have to be extremely careful as there are small chips right at the hole on both the nf-7 and the dfi's. It can be done but is a hassle.
