This Robot, built by Dr. Colin Mayhew, actually has grabbed and placed aqua-planing cars back onto the road. Read the Links!!! You will all be amazed. Can you say Transformers? BTW my friend found this Article in Esquire Magazine, told me about it, and just found it on the net....

Mist Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 If you saw what they built in Japan this is perfectly pluasible however the cost of such a robot would be staggering. It might have been built but I would not bet money either way on what it is cabable of.
AYoKoNA Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 It might have been built but I would not bet money either way on what it is cabable of. Thats exactly what I was thinking. I don't think its fake, but I can't confirm its real.... Its a 50/50 tossup. If it is fake, I don't see why a freelance journalist, along with the Dr. himself in on a hoax.... The guy is a genious and was/is a engineer for Mini... I also wish their was a website disputing this, then I could actually have more doubt that its fake, but I looked all over the net and couldn't find anything disputing it. Don't we have some English Folk out their in OCC that lives near Oxford?
jammin Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 Uh... is anyone else extremely sceptical about this. I mean come on, how could this really be possible... plus the fact that many parts of the mini remain fully intact and visible on the robot... I smell a publicity stunt. Varry Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 lol, whoever believes this, also believes in Santa Claus or even believes Bush is a good leader.... <_<
AYoKoNA Posted April 22, 2004 Posted April 22, 2004 (edited) I mean come on, how could this really be possible... plus the fact that many parts of the mini remain fully intact and visible on the robot... I smell a publicity stunt. It is a Mini. Its got the hood, and the "Mini" Motor is running the robot along with 6 Linux Machines.. I am a little skeptical, but don't think its not possible, Japan along with other companies have already developed robots... Here is the search I got for "r50rd robot" http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=...8&q=r50rd+robot Nothing but ppl in other msg boards bickering back and forth if its real or not. All I have to say is their is nothing that has proved false otherwise. I wouldn't call it a hoax just yet. http://www.humanoid.rise.waseda.ac.jp/booklet/kato_2.html ^ keep in mind that is from 1973! I am not concluding that it is real for sure, but you can't say its FULLY fake, their is no evidence to support that as of yet. Edit: lol, whoever believes this, also believes in Santa Claus or even believes Bush is a good leader....
