mr_belding1 Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 (edited) This may sound like a dumb question, but i have a fan controller with temp monitors on it. The wires are of course plugged into the back and they run to various locations in the case in order to retrieve temps. But in order to get cpu temps i have to tape the end of the wire on the lower part of my heatsink. I feel as if I'm getting a lot lower temps than what are actually there because I can not put the wire on top of the cpu because of the cooling gel ans heatsink, I've tried and it ruined the wire and it screwed up processes that my computer was trying to run. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I may be able to put the end of the wire in order to get best temperature results for the cpu? How have you guys done this? kobalt Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 (edited) You can always get motherboard monitor for a couple of the temps you want, it'll be displayed on your screen and keep the probes for video card or something http://mbm.livewiredev.com/download.html Edited April 20, 2004 by kobalt
kurosen Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Most people here would say you should weave the wire through CPU pins and let the probe get to the middle for most accurate readings, but my probe wires won't slide through my Athlon's pins... mr_belding1 Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 hmmm, i guess i could try weaving it through the pins, but I figured the fan would drastically lower the temp reading. I'll try it though and find out what is more accurate, thx.
