the_condor_rules Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 can i hook my tornado up to a fan controller? namely an zalman ZM-MFC1. I'd like to be able to slow the fan down because its soooo loud.
Mangar Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 Sure, I do it with mine. I have it hooked to an Coolermaster Aerogate II. Looks like you're having a little prob with sig, better check it.
Sly_C Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 yeah u can, just make sure u check the amps on each line of ur fan controller and see how much it can stand.
the_condor_rules Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 k thanks. should i just plug the yellow wire into a splitter then take that to the controller and the motherboard?
Paranoid Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 You will have to plug the 4-pin Molex connector into the controller to adjust its speed. The yellow wire is only a sensor to tell the motherboard the rpm's of the fan.
the_condor_rules Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 thanks. so really if i wanted to i could strip down the red and black wires that go into the molex from the fan and put them straight onto my controller. ( its the zalman ZM-MFC1 ) so theres two sets of connectors for just plain wires with no sockets. See image
exeter_acres Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 CAREFUL!!!!! I have that same controller and I just checked the box... maximum is 7watts per channel... a tornado can pull up to 14 watts at start up... they are power hungry... Not saying it 'will' fry your controller..... but there is a chance!
A++ Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 I have the same prob with my aerogate II & volcano12 fan. How do i connect the v12 fan to the aerogateII so i can control the v12 speed from the aerogate & not just seeing its rpm on the aerogateII? Thx.
