VolcomPimp Posted August 17, 2002 Posted August 17, 2002 Well I always get disconnected for split seconds and I think it's cause my router.. It didnt happen as much when I wasnt using one... will leaving a router on 24/7 cause problems??? I thought it was cause Im on fixed wireless but I know other ppl who are using dsl w/ a router and it's starting to happen to them too... mostly happens on AIM... d3bruts1d Posted August 17, 2002 Posted August 17, 2002 One reason it happens with DSL is because of the technology behind it. PPPoE and PPPoA... bother of which are very similar to DUN... Most DSL routers don't keep the connection active, and will re-estiblish the connection when requested... That'd be my guess as to the DSL part... as for the wireless... Because wireless sucks??? - Have no clue as to why it's dropping, b/c I don't use it, and will never use it.
VolcomPimp Posted August 17, 2002 Posted August 17, 2002 hmmm... w/ the wireless it's cause of the wheather and stuff, but Im wondering if the hardware might affect it any... but oh well... my d/l bandwidth is still pretty sweet (600k+ per second) just my upload and the slight disconnects piss me off... but the disconnects only occur on counter-strike and AIM... more frequently on AIM, I'll ussually just get a lag spike on counter-strike.. downloads ussually never stop unless wheather is really bad
