clutchmaster Posted April 11 Posted April 11 i got a evga 2080 ti xc ultra 300A die samsung mem 338watt bios that i flashed with gigabytes 366 watt bios AB shows max limit is 122% run superposition and the card is pulling the same as before what gives???? im pretty sure i cannot flash the KFA 380watt bios to it cause of some nonsense typeC firmware thats older then what come with the xc ultra even though the device id's match my card: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/205879/evga-rtx2080ti-11264-181023 reference PCB design bios' ive tried: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/204557/kfa2-rtx2080ti-11264-180910 https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/206432/gigabyte-rtx2080ti-11264-181023 https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/207295/gigabyte-rtx2080ti-11264-181117 i also read in this article stating i need to download gigabyte software to get it upto those limitshttps://www.techpowerup.com/248867/gigabyte-updates-its-rtx-2080-ti-gaming-oc-bios-with-increased-power-limit do i actually need this software im use to using msi afterburner so why cant i use AB instead
Boinker Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Good evening, Sorry for the late reply. As per regards to updating the Bios and not getting the desired results, it happens. Just because it is a reference PCB design does not mean it is hardware limited. In addition with the EVGA card are you using its specific EVGA OC software there are odds that it will be limited as well. Have you tried the Gigabyte software to OC it? Best I can suggest is to use the factory bios and search the EVGA forums to see if anyone has had success there. That or shunt mod it if it is able. Good luck, and be careful. Good luck, and be careful. i prefer msi afterburner but i have tried evga software mainly to see if the gpu has additional sensors but doesnt after flashing the gigabyte 360 watt bios and with the gigabyte software still seems to only want to pull 338 watts consistently(stock clocks) even after getting my hands on a 1.8v adaptor for my usb eeprom programmer and flashing the KFA2 380watt bios(stable) onto it, its still the same 338watts consistently in superposition 1080p extreme it does occasionally go above 338 ive once saw it briefly reach 350 watts. im starting to suspect the voltage controllers(uP9512p) current limit is hard set to 316amps well below what its supposed to be(600+amps) i once shunt modded a evga 2060 KO the one with the 2080 die and i noticed that it didnt do much was hitting power limit abit less did a check for what power stages it was using and its 4 55amp power stages so 220 amps but didnt see the power increase on my watt meter. if i had a board view of my card i would be able to figure out if my theory is wrong but thats for later me i finally got heatsinks on the vram and vrm so i can actually test farther with overclocking the card its maddening to see it only pulling 338 watts and still hitting power limit after flashing the 380watt bios onto it
