Various Video Game Stories from the Week of June 13

Recommended Posts

It is the end of the week and so it is time to go through what remains of the press releases that have collected in my inbox. Monday's item covers most of what I have received this week, but there are some that have arrived since. First up is a new trailer for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, an immersive horror-simulation FPS targeting a 2023 release on PC and Xbox Series X/S. This new trailer does not offer gameplay, but does help establish its setting as a truck is driven into the zone, accompanied by a motivating if also suspicious narration.

In addition to this trailer, the developer GSC Game World that is based in Kyiv, Ukraine also shared a video to show how some things have changed for them due to the current war. As it does show some images from the war, it might not be appropriate for all viewers, but here is a link to it, with the game trailer embedded below: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Dev Diary: Game Development During the War.

One of the games I covered in the earlier post this week was Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, a game where you will be fighting gods and their undead armies using a flintlock, axe, and magic. Since then a new trailer has been released, this one revealing the gameplay but also accompanied with a commentary by the CEO and Creative Director of A44 Games, Derek Bradley. This helps to provide some insight into this title that we can expect early 2023 for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.

Publisher Phoenixx and developer Neotro have announced a partnership this week concerning NeverAwake, an upcoming twin-stick shoot'em up that Phoenixx will be publishing worldwide. In this title, you will be entering the world of Rem's fears and horrors, as this little girl has found herself in what seems to be an eternal sleep. To wake up, she will need to defeat representations of her fears while exploring this whimsical but gloomy world. These fears include the evil vegetables she despises as well as the dentist that terrifies her. As you defeat enemies you will collect their souls, and you can then spend them to upgrade weapons or get accessories, but be careful to not spend too long in any level. After a time the levels will turn and become more difficult with each loop you make.

As part of the Steam Next Fest a new demo has been released for the game, which includes new auto-aiming for improved accessibility and new customization options.

A new gameplay trailer has been shared by Serenity Forge and developer Twin Otter Studios for Arcadian Atlas. This tactical RPG will be arriving on PC in Summer 2023 and this trailer shows off some of the battles the player must fight in order to save the land of Arcadia. This nation is being torn apart by political and familial factions, nefarious plots, treacherous alliances, and clandestine intrigues, politics also play a role in the experience. If you make the wrong move, it is possible for you family and alliances to be torn apart, and with ancient evil forces awakening, such damage can impact the whole of Arcadia.
