Thermal Paste?

Recommended Posts

When installing a new heatsink onto a cpu that has had one on it for a while, should I remove the old thermal paste or just leave it and add a little more or none at all? Also how should I go about removing it paper towel, cloth, finger?

:D:lol: hehe.. um.. hear we go.. well.. first.. remove the old thermal paste with alcohol.. sorry.. cant spell, to lazy to look it up :)//// use alcohol and a coffee filter, use like the 92% alcohol stuff "rubbing alcohol" and yes, apply a paper thin amount of thermal paste.. NOT TO MUCH.. very very thing.. check out google.. do a search for "how to apply thermal paste to cpu" you should get some hits on good tutorials if you have never done it before.. hope this helps :)

whatever u do definately, don't use ur finger, as the instructions Beatryder posted says the oil on ur fingers can get in the cracks on the cpu and affect the cooling.

I followed the AS Ceramique instructions on their website to the letter, and I'm very happy with the results.
