Various Video Game Stories from the Week of March 8, 2021

Recommended Posts

It is Friday and so it is also time to go through some video game stories of the week, with the first coming from Dotemu and Tribute Games as the publisher and developer have partnered with Nickelodeon to create Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. This side-scrolling beat-em-up is inspired by the classic TMNT games and will feature a pixel-art style, reminiscent of their 1987 design. In the game, the turtles will be fighting through several iconic locations to stop the Foot Clan and thwart the latest scheme from Shredder and Krang, including travelling to Dimension X.

We have an announcement trailer for game and know it will be coming to PC and consoles, but I do not see a release date or window yet.

GOG has announced many of the games set in the Witcher universe are now available on NVIDIA's GeForce Now cloud gaming service. If you have a copy of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year Edition, The Witcher Adventure Game, or Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales on GOG and link that account with your GeForce Now account, you will be able to stream them to even low-powered computers. Both of these titles in the Witcher trilogy were quite visually impressive and stressful on modern hardware when they launched, and while modern hardware might handle them more easily, something like a Chromebook, which GeForce Now supports, will not be enough.

HandyGames has announced the release date for Pile Up! Box by Box, a game that had been featured at gamescom 2020, and it is arriving next week. In this 3D platformer you help the boxlings solve various environmental puzzles alone or in local co-op with up to four players. Players can freely enter and leave with the dynamic challenge rescaling and remote play is possible thanks to Steam. If you would rather challenge your friends, there are minigames you can play to see who is the best with boxes.

Pile Up! Box by Box is releasing on March 18 for PC priced at $14.99, while the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch versions arriving in Summer.

Last year saw the release of Lost Words: Beyond the Page on Google Stadia, but come April 6 it will be arriving on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. The game tells the story of Izzy as she comes to terms with the loss of a close loved one by entering a surreal story. This story evolves in unpredictable ways but by interacting with the words in her diary, you will be able to solve the different puzzles and overcome the platforming segments to progress.

Lastly for the video game news, THQ Nordic has announced the incorporation of Alkimia Interactive, the publisher's newest studio. We already know the first game this studio will work on, in part because the studio was formed for the Gothic Remake. During Summer 2020 operations started at the studio and the team started to be brought together, but there it is hardly complete. There are several position still open for and the studio is taking international applications. Though the Gothic Remake is its first project, the studio's ultimate purpose is to create high quality RPGs and action adventure games. We can expect to see the results of the studio's work in the new couple months, according to THQ Nordic.
