Metro Exodus launched about a year ago now and received its first story expansion DLC, The Two Colonels last August, and today it is getting its second expansion, Sam's Story. This DLC follows Sam, one of the Spartan Rangers that escaped the Moscow Metro with Artyom and the others in the base game. He is unique among them though as he is actually an American, specifically a Marine that survived the nuclear attack on the city. Colonel Miller, founder of the Spartan Order saved him and ever since he served as a ranger, dedicated to keeping the people safe. With the metro behind them, his dream of returning to his homeland has become that much stronger and in Sam's Story he leaves the group he crossed Russia with to hopefully find a way back to America, and possibly to his father. This takes him to Vladivostok and its tsunami ravaged harbors where he will need every survival tactic he has learned as there are new mutants, new characters, and new weapons to discover there. The level for Sam's Story has a sandbox survival and non-linear design to it, offering players approximately five hours of single-player content. The DLC can be purchased on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Google Stadia for $16.99 or as part of the Expansion Pass that includes The Two Colonels as well.

Perhaps more important to some than the release of the game's second DLC is the confirmation Metro Exodus will be returning to Steam on February 15. The game did abruptly become an Epic Games Store exclusive for a year shortly before its launch, but with that year expiring, those who prefer Valve's digital storefront and software will finally be able to purchase it there.
