Today Stardock has announced The Political Machine 2020, that latest in the series of political strategy and simulation games. With it players can select a candidate to run for president against a computer or human opponent on the Internet. The candidates include Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buttigieg, Andrew Yang, and Tulsi Gabbard on the Democrat side and Donald Trump, George W. Bush, and Mitt Romney on the Republican side. You can also design your own candidates to put on the campaign trail.

The game uses per-state models based on current poll data to see simulate what can actually happen, and also allows for unexpected events like natural disasters, national tragedies, and economic crises that would upset any campaign strategy. A new feature is the use of unique ideology trees for the candidates, which can make them play very differently from each other. You earn ideology points by visiting town halls and can then spend them to earn specific issues, such as 'Medicare for All' for Bernie Sanders and 'Build the Wall' for Donald Trump.

Previous editions of the game have been successful at predicting winners for nearly every state since 2004, with the exception of 2016 when it was infamously patched after it predicted Donald Trump winning Wisconsin. This version features a complete rewrite to provide improved graphics as well as more sophisticated simulation with a combination of polling data and voter enthusiasm. You will be able to get into The Political Machine 2020 this Spring.
