AMD Ryzen 9 3950X and Threadripper Volume Shipping Delayed to November

Recommended Posts

If you have been waiting for the 16 core/32 thread Ryzen 9 3950X CPU to build a new system, it seems you will need to wait some months longer. Originally announced at the Next Horizon Gaming event with a release month of September, AMD has now said it will not be launching in volume until November. The reason given is that AMD wants to focus on meeting the strong demand for the 3rd generation of Ryzen CPUs. The 3950X, like the 12 core/24 thread 3900X require two Zen2 chiplets while the other CPUs in the lineup utilize just one.

The same statement also shares that we can expect the first of the 3rd Gen Ryzen Threadripper processors to also launch in November. Besides potentially offering far more processing threads than the consumer-targeting products, the Threadripper CPUs should bring with them greater memory bandwidth and far more PCIe lanes. If those are the products you have been waiting for, then at least now we know when we can expect more information to be revealed.
