If you remember fondly the previous Comanche games, than you may be happy to hear THQ Nordic and Nukklear are bringing it back with a new title entering Early Access early next year. You can watch the teaser below as it shows off not only the capabilities of the Reconnaissance and attack helicopter, RAH-66 Comanche but also the short range drone it can carry. The background story to the game is that following an incident where a drone was captured through cyberwarfare, the advanced Comanche helicopter program was revitalized as a means to deliver non-hackable short-range drones. Based on this premise and the gameplay of the original games, the companies are building a team-based online multiple helicopter shooter that will have players using both the helicopter and the armed drone it carries to complete missions. The pairings of Comanche and drone will have their own strenghs and weaknesses in the encounters.

The new game, simply titled Comanche should enter Steam Early Access in the first quest of next year, and for those curious it is powered by Unreal Engine 4.

Also announced today is Drone Champions League - The Game, thanks to a partnership between THQ Nordic GmbH and the Drone Champions League AG. It will be the official game for the league and allow players to fly the original DCL tracks. There will be four flight modes to choose from, starting with an Arcade mode for beginners. The GPS mode is more like a standard camera drone, utilizing stabilization and altitude control, while Angle mode, which is sometimes known as stabilized mode, is available on many amateur racing drones. Finally the Acro mode gives the pilot the most control and is how real drone racing is done. There will even be support for drone controllers on PC and Mac.

Drone Champions League – The Game is expected to launch this Winter and the standard edition on PC will cost $29.99 while the standard edition on consoles will be $39.99. The post-launch plans include adding additional real-life tracks prior to the event as well as a track editor for PC. More information will be released on the game in the future.
