Barton 2600+ 50oc Idle Temp?

Hello,

How fast can my barton 2600 go?

 

My Sig shows what i have done so far.

 

My temps are as folows:

 

Running at stock speeds(1917Mhz/333FSB 400MhzRAM) with the stock AMD retail HSF

 

CPU 49/60 Idle/load

mobo 30/32 idle load

 

With current config:

 

CPU 57/63 idle/load

mobo 31/33 idle load

 

So my question is this. Has anyone else seen temps this high b4? And how much of a temp drop could I expect to see if I switched to a Volcano 7/9/11?

 

oh yeah, I use MBM to get my temps.

Man if you are talking about a AMD XP 2600+.  I don't think it matters what overclock you put on it in 2019 sorry to say.

It's hard to give advice on a 18 year old cpu, I had one back in 2002 and if I remember correctly it oc'ed best by uping the fsb until I had issues and then backing it off to stable, as far as temps I hope your talking F and not C, if it's F you are in the right ballpark.

if memory serves...with the right board that will run at a 400fsb with the same style of ram. Volcano coolers werent the best as we used heatpipe coolers. I think I still have one from socket A days. I believe it was a Thermalright cooler.
