Laptop Manufacturers Warn Tariffs Could Increase Pricing Beyond Most Consumers Budgets

Recommended Posts

A number of major PC companies, which include Dell, HP, Intel, and Microsoft have warned that if the proposed tariffs by the US government go into effect, prices of laptops and tablets would be expected to rise by around 19%, which could be a $90 to over $120 increase in the price for a new laptop or tablet. To make things worse, not only would the new tariffs on laptops and tablets lead to higher prices, all of the companies further warn that the "tariffs would hinder our companies' ability to innovate and maintain US high technology leadership." If and when the tariffs do take effect, they will hit during the peak holiday season this year and show a direct effect on students, families, school systems, and others who are in need of affordable laptops and tablets.
