Just Cause 4 Performance Analysis

Recommended Posts

Man I WISH  I could get those FPS on my 1070. I'm gonna guess its down to the CPU then? I get dips into the upper 40s sometimes and it rarly breaks 100.

Unrelated: I'm stuck at part 2 of Operation Sandstinger and an tempted to just give up.

Yeah, given the physics involved for the game, the CPU likely plays a larger role in performance than in plenty of other games.

Had to look up Operation Sandstinger and as I recall, it was not easy for me either. As I recall, part of it is finding and destroying some part of the power system, and I got lost trying to find the third. Plus I think it at least felt like the enemies had an easier time seeing me than I had seeing them in the sandstorm.

By the way, since I submitted this I made some changes to the scripts so they will produce a compact version of the tables for the GPUs. I'll see about trying to do something similar for the multi-GPU tables at some point. Here's an example with the GTX 1070 data:

Frame Time:

Location   Average 0.1% 1% 99% 99.9% 60 FPS
Base Aerea Yanacagua FPS 90.07 214.94 178.67 55.00 32.20 3.31
Prisa Automovil FPS 85.11 205.83 154.40 52.55 34.51 6.25
Driving to Prospero Tanques FPS 70.93 147.70 131.94 44.31 28.22 20.65
Base Aerea Yanacagua ms 11.10 4.65 5.60 18.18 31.05 3.31
Prisa Automovil ms 11.75 4.86 6.48 19.03 28.98 6.25
Driving to Prospero Tanques ms 14.10 6.77 7.58 22.57 35.43 20.65

Display Time:

Location   Average 0.1% 1% 99% 99.9% 60 FPS
Base Aerea Yanacagua FPS 90.07 156.86 144.40 72.67 49.25 0.14
Prisa Automovil FPS 85.11 133.10 122.50 69.02 50.39 0.16
Driving to Prospero Tanques FPS 70.94 88.46 80.82 62.50 48.30 0.47
Base Aerea Yanacagua ms 11.10 6.38 6.92 13.76 20.30 0.14
Prisa Automovil ms 11.75 7.51 8.16 14.49 19.84 0.16
Driving to Prospero Tanques ms 14.10 11.30 12.37 16.00 20.70 0.47

I am so glad I figured out how to get R to do this for me, because typing in each cell is so annoying, especially when there are so many to work on.

Yeah I can't see to find that damn third cooling unit.  I gotta admit the train ride was cool. It's a battleship cannon after all :) Is there a benchmark script I can run cor comparative purposes?

I think I found the third cooling unit. If the player fast travels to the location the weather seems more intermittent.

No because I do all of these manually. The easiest to repeat would be the third run though, as it is just driving from one point to another, following the path the game gives you. The other two were more just entering an area and destroying what was there, though there were orders of sort for how I did these. The data processing scripts are in one of my GitHub repositories (OCC-OCAT), so if you or anyone wants to collect the same data and process it the same, those are there. They do need R and Python on the system though.
