Tom Petersen Leaves NVIDIA, Possibly to Join Intel

Recommended Posts

It appears Intel may be continuing it success of recruiting people with GPU experience for its team. While it is not yet known if Intel will be his next employer, Tom Petersen has left NVIDIA where he was Director of Technical Marketing and Distinguished Engineer. Before he started at NVIDIA in 2005 he was with IBM and Motorola, working on PowerPC, so his experience was with CPU design but he was also involved with the development of G-Sync. He also has around 50 technical patents.

The current speculation is that he will end up at Intel, which is working on a GPU it hopes will compete with NVIDIA and AMD products. Though this is not confirmed yet, it would hardly be surprising as Intel has been hiring a number of people from its competitors such as Raja Koduri, who had been the head of AMD's Radeon Technologies Group. Hot Hardware is claiming it has a source stating Petersen will become an Intel Fellow working with its Game Experience Team.
