The NH-U12A is the newest entry in the company's U12 series and features several optimizations to improve performance and compatibility. The cooler uses an asymmetric design, ensuring there is access to your RAM on Intel LGA 115x and AMD AM4 motherboards but it is also used to increase the fin surface area by 37%, to increase its thermal performance. Getting the air across the fins is a pair of NF-A12x25 fans in push-pull configuration. These fans are the most advanced from Noctua and, while being 120 mm fans, can actually compete with 140 mm fans. Being PWM fans too, their speed can be controlled for silent operation or greatest performance. The cooler also has seven heat pipes to bring the heat from the cold plate to the fin stack. The use of the NF-A12x25 fans is also important as it allows the cooler to be smaller than 140 mm-based coolers while offering comparable performance. Not only can the RAM be easily accessed while this cooler is installed, but so can the top PCIe slot for most standard ATX and mATX motherboards, allowing you to get very good performance without needing to move your graphics card down a slot. The cooler is 158 mm tall and 125 mm wide, so it should be able to fit in most current tower cases, which is impressive as it aims to offer 140 mm class performance. The NH-U12A is already available through Noctua's official Amazon and eBay stores for $99.90. Other sales partners should receive stock soon. It is backed by a full 6-year warranty and comes with the NT-H1 thermal compound.
